"A Tribo" is the first Brazilian feature-length documentary to tell the story of an eSports community. It premiered at CCXP23 for 4,000 people before its YouTube release.
In 2022, Brazil hosted the world's biggest Counter-Strike championship: the Rio Major. For those who watched it, it was history. For those who were there, it was life-changing. But for the Tribe, a community of millions gathered by Brazilian streamer Gaules, it was the materialization of something that had always existed: the power to unite people through an unconditional love for belonging.
The Tribe is not just about CS. It's about football rivals who become eSports stadium friends. It's about the on-duty doctor cheering between medical shifts. It's about a Portuguese fan who crowdfunded with the community to cross the ocean. It's about parents who discover a connection with their kids through a game they've never played.
To tell this story, I immersed myself in the Tribe's universe. The challenge was clear: to demystify the idea that a community built around a "shooting game" is inherently violent, and to show that, ultimately, we're talking about the most human feelings that exist.
The result captures not only the phenomenon of Triboneira, but the essence of what it means to be part of something bigger than yourself.
